Mi 12: the teardown reveals how the top compact range is made

Presented at the end of December 2021, Xiaomi 12 began its distribution list with great curiosity and interest, but without a teardown, we cannot say that we know it thoroughly. Xiaomi itself took care of this, following what already happened with the 12 Pro model.

So what does the official disassembly of Xiaomi’s new “compact” flagship tell us? Opening the frosted glass body, we are immediately in front of the 50W wireless charging module, while in the upper part the large 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor is immediately visible, compared to the other two small ones.

Continuing to remove the upper plates, we find the 32 MP selfie camera but also the smaller components (designed specifically for the small size), including the brightness sensor and the gyroscope, up to the LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 memories, definitely large compared to the form factor of the smartphone.

Towards the end, we arrive at the housing of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and above all the 4,500 mAh battery, made with new lithium oxide materials and in addition we also sell the large stereo speakers used, in addition to the vapor chamber for cooling.

In short, Xiaomi 12, despite being a top range with compact dimensions, does not give up practically anything and seems to want to be the progenitor of an increasingly popular category, especially in the Android market.
