A few days ago, Tesla released its Vehicle Safety Data Report for the fourth quarter of 2021, which collects vehicle data and investigates the accident rate of different conditions per mile with assisted driving. Since 2018, Tesla has released a vehicle safety report every quarter, comparing the accident rate with and without Autopilot.

The report shows that car owners who use Autopilot have an average accident every 4.31 million miles; car owners who do not use Autopilot but have active safety enabled to have an average accident every 1.59 million miles; Previously, first-quarter data showed that car owners who did not use Autopilot or active safety had an average accident every 978,000 miles; in the United States, there was one car accident every 484,000 miles.

Compared with Tesla with Autopilot and active safety turned on, Tesla’s average mileage accident rate is about 1/9 of the US average. A takeaway from the Tesla data is that Tesla vehicles have the lowest average mileage accident rate with or without Autopilot and are active safety enabled.

For Tesla owners, enabling AP and active safety functions is conducive to improving driving safety. However, it needs to be emphasized that in the process of use, the driver himself should also pay attention to the road conditions in real-time.
