In addition to the regular 128/256/512GB models, Samsung is also said to have prepared a top-of-the-line version with 16GB RAM + 1TB ROM for the Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship smartphone. According to the plan, Samsung should officially release the Galaxy S22 series of smartphones next month, and three Galaxy Tab S8 series tablets are expected to be unveiled together.
Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a 1TB version of flagship mobile devices, like the Galaxy S10+ released in 2019, and Apple’s iPhone 13 Pro lineup in 2021. A spec and quote for the Galaxy S22 series was circulating on the Internet earlier, but we were surprised to find that the standard storage (RAM) was reduced from 12GB to 8GB, and there was no trace of the 1TB model.
Recently, the former Samsung employee SuperRoader broke the news on Twitter that the top model may be launched later. In addition, Ishan Agarwal also revealed that there will be a Galaxy S22 Ultra model with 1TB storage, and Europe is expected to be one of the major markets.
Although for most users, the large storage space of less than 1TB is not used for the time being. But since the Galaxy S21, Samsung no longer offers a microSD storage expansion option for this series of smartphones. With the substantial improvement of video quality in recent years, some professionals obviously have a large demand for shooting 8K video, so the arrival of the Galaxy S22 Ultra model with 16GB RAM + 1TB ROM does not surprise us.
Lastly, while pricing for the top-of-the-line Galaxy S22 Ultra model is unclear, the estimated prices for several other SKUs are as follows:
- 8GB/128GB model – EUR 1300
- 12GB/256GB model – EUR 1400
- 12GB/512GB model – EUR 1500
In terms of color matching, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is said to be available in 4 color options: black, white, green, and wine red. However, although the S Pen stylus is included, users need to purchase a charger separately (Plus / Ultra models support 45W fast charging).
As for the legendary 4nm Exynos 2200 chipset that integrates AMD’s mobile GPU, Samsung is said to be caught in a heat/frequency dilemma. If the optimization does not go well, the Galaxy S22 series may only provide Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 models.
