What really pisses me off about the Pixel 6

The Pixel 6 phones do not have any serious defects. But there are factors that can get on your nerves in everyday life. However, Google could counteract this with a few small updates and improvements. In a small series of articles, I want to tell you what disadvantages and advantages I see in the current Pixel 6 phones and in the Pixel series in general. Now let’s talk about the points that annoy me about the latest generation of Google smartphones. There are not many points, but two factors that are very serious for me then came to my mind.

Significantly larger displays make one-handed operation more difficult

With a height of 1.76, I’m not exactly a giant and neither do my hands. Which of course makes one-handed operation more difficult with most current smartphones. Google was almost considered a unicorn recently, but everything changed with the two Pixel 6 models. Displays from a diagonal of 6.4 inches are simply too big for me.

So I hardly get along with the Pixel 6 Pro at all. With the smaller Pixel 6, I can still arrange myself halfway. But it will probably never be the same again when I was really comfortable using a smartphone with one hand. I’d do better with a decent one-handed mode, but Google has screwed that up so far, too.

Bumpy start despite a lot of enthusiasm

There really isn’t a phone from any other manufacturer right now that I would choose over the Pixel 6 devices. But the numerous errors in the first three months since the market launch are still factors that make me ponder from time to time. The odyssey after the faulty December update is still not over.

I continue to struggle with avoidable mistakes. This still includes a sometimes very bumpy start of the camera app on the Pixel 6. It sometimes takes several seconds for the virtual viewfinder to display smoothly. With the 6 Pro, on the other hand, I still have the error that the device sometimes wakes up from standby with a blank screen.

These are errors that occur several times a day in everyday life and are therefore particularly annoying. I can’t bypass them, there is no workaround. Unfortunately, three months after the market launch, this is a strong piece – only of the negative kind.

Another part will follow on Monday (January 24th), then it will be about my favorite feature of the Pixel 6 series.
