Widget in Pixel Launcher gets 3 new features

It’s probably still a test run, but Google is adding more information to the widget on the home and lock screens of its Pixel devices. Three new options are launching internationally. Google is slowly making good on its promises of the last few months and is starting to roll out new features for live viewing.

Internationally, the widget is probably still called “At a Glance” and also brings new options to German devices. I was able to discover new settings that initially provide three new options as of now. It is therefore only a fraction of the new planned options (see below). But what’s already available on my Pixel 6 seems to be working as well. Including stopwatch/timer, fitness and bedtime.

Google Pixel: Widget on the lock and start screen is finally getting much larger

For example, I see the currently running stopwatch on the start screen and lock screen in the widget. In addition, fitness data from other apps such as Adidas Running should also be displayed, reports Mishaal Rahman.

The following new categories could already be discovered for the widget a while ago:

  • At a Store inform about vouchers, shopping lists, etc. when you are in a store.
  • Bedtime informs about the planned bedtime of the clock app.
  • Connected Devices provides information about connected devices such as Bluetooth headphones.
  • The doorbell provides information about the status of smart doorknobs, for example when the doorbell rings.
  • Fitness informs about details from Google Fit and Co.
  • Flashlight reminds you when the flashlight is still active.
  • Safety Check provides a countdown in case of an emergency.
  • Timer & Stopwatch informs about timer and stopwatch from clock app.

As you can see, there’s a lot more to come in the next few months. However, Google is silent as to whether an exact timetable is available.
