German-made Tesla Model Y may go on sale in March

Tesla’s factory in Grünheide, near Berlin, Germany, appears to be in the final stages of starting mass production of the Model Y. From a technical point of view, the plant may be progressing smoothly and almost ready for production. Drone video from last week showed that the number of brand-new vehicles being assembled at the factory had reached double digits.

Not long ago, Tesla also received new approval for the company to produce 2,000 Model Y units at its German factory as part of mass production. As far as the outside world knows, these are high-performance Model Ys, and most of them are black, with a few other colors. Rumor has it that Tesla will focus on black and white bodywork at the start of production, before moving on to other colors of the vehicle.

Tesla’s European website has also updated the expected delivery time, with the current expected delivery date for the high-performance Model Y being March 2022, compared to the previous display of early 2022. There are also some media found in the website source code that these Model Y high-performance vehicles will come from the German factory. But soon after, Tesla quickly removed the code.

It is currently expected that the German-made Model Y will be based on standard production methods, using front and rear giant castings, and 2170 cylindrical cells. The next step for the plant is to start using 4680 cylindrical cells at some point in the future.
