Microsoft today released its financial results for the second quarter of the 2022 fiscal year ended December 31. The company’s total revenue in the second fiscal quarter was $51.728 billion, an increase of 20% from $43.076 billion in the same period last year, and net profit was $18.765 billion, an increase of 21% from $15.463 billion in the same period last year.

At the same time, in the financial report, Microsoft also disclosed that the number of monthly active users of its communication and collaboration platform Microsoft Teams has exceeded 270 million in December.

According to Microsoft, the number of users of Microsoft Teams is still growing, but it is much slower than the first few months of the new crown epidemic. Among daily active users, Microsoft Teams jumped from 75 million in April 2020 to 115 million in October 2020 and then to 145 million in April 2021, all the way up.

Competitors to Teams include Slack, which Salesforce acquired last year for $27.7 billion, and Zoom as we know it. It’s worth mentioning that Microsoft launched a standalone version of Teams for small businesses in December, separate from other Office apps and services, posing a more immediate threat to Zoom.
