HDR10: Netflix certified Google Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

Netflix has certified new devices to play HDR10 content. The company wants to guarantee that the content is reproduced as desired. The Android smartphones Google Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 and 6 Pro now “officially” support the playback of HDR10 content from the streaming provider.

Netflix has recently added the devices to its in-house help area. In the past, there have been some complaints from Pixel 6 owners, including on Reddit, that HDR and HDR+ weren’t working as intended as early as December. Such problems should now be a thing of the past.

To stream in HDR, users need the Netflix app version 5.0 or later for Android and a compatible device that supports the playback of HDR content. Of course, a subscription that supports streaming in Ultra HD is also required.

In addition, a stable Internet speed of at least 25 megabits per second should be available and the streaming quality must be set to high. According to Netflix, the latest firmware is also required for error-free HDR10 playback.
