The game’s improvements to the game’s systems are radical and revolutionary for the entire exclusive series, shedding antiquated combat mechanics and outdated progression systems, and still feel very interesting after hours of play. While Pokémon: Arceus is closest to the Pokémon I (the reviewer) had in my childhood, and its genre-shifting innovations and changes are satisfying, it all sits in a void, boring, and unsatisfactory world.
