Apple is said to be planning a “major update” for the AirPods Pro this year, Bloomberg’s very reliable Mark Gurman claimed in his newsletter this week. A “new design” is coming up for the Apple headphones.
New AirPods Pro towards the end of 2022
The stalk is likely to go away and we may well get new sensors focused on fitness functions. Ming-Chi Kuo, who is also reliable about such statements, said in December that they would come at the end of 2022.
He also threw out support for ALAC earlier this year and we heard from another source that a release is planned for Q3 2022. Would fit, they might come with the new iPhones.
I’m very excited about the new AirPods Pro because the stem down is superfluous for me by 2022 at the latest, which I also noticed when testing the new Beats Fit Pro. It was a trademark of the AirPods, I understand that, and the competition copied it, but now you’re welcome to part with it.
