Google One: New features for the free VPN are here

As part of an extensive subscription to Google One, German users have also been able to access Google’s relatively young VPN service for a few months. Now there are a few new things to announce, one of which is the launch of iOS. But Android users can also look forward to additional features that have been apparent for a long time.

The Google One VPN is now also available on iOS. It can be used there in a similar way to Android and has so far only been available to iPhone users as part of a Google One subscription of at least 2 terabytes. It can be used separately so far, but that could change in the future. Until then, Android users can also benefit from the following three innovations that some users may have had for some time:

  • Safe Disconnect: Activates the restriction that internet access on the smartphone can only be used with an activated VPN.
  • App Bypass: Allows selected apps previously set by the user to bypass the VPN. A simple app filter managed within the One-App.
  • Snooze: With this new function, the VPN can be temporarily deactivated. It will be reactivated automatically so it cannot be forgotten.

All innovations should be rolled out to all users with access to the VPN over the next few days. The same applies to the VPN on the iPhone.
