Thanks to the recent software updates, in fact, the Pixel 6 Pro and the Pixel 6 can be quickly recharged wirelessly (up to a maximum of 23 W and 21 W respectively). Let’s see the details below:

The second-generation Pixel Stand finally supports fast wireless charging for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro

It took a few weeks longer than expected but, finally, the second generation Pixel Stand is now able to make the most of its capabilities by offering fast wireless charging for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.

This new feature was supposed to be introduced with the December update for Pixel smartphones but has been postponed. Thanks to the update at the end of January, however, the new Google Pixel smartphones are finally able to exploit the potential of the Pixel Stand to the maximum.

To take advantage of the fast wireless charging with Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro it is necessary to have installed the update SQ1D.211205.016 or SQ1D.220105.007 (or later versions that Google will release in the coming weeks).

It should also be noted that users must use the Pixel Stand app to “unlock” the maximum charging speed by following the instructions provided directly by the application.

Fast charging up to 23W

In this way, after updating the smartphones and completing the app configuration, it will be possible to wirelessly recharge the Pixel 6 with a power of 21 W. As for the Pixel 6 Pro, however, it will be possible to reach a value maximum of 23 W. Of course, the second generation of Pixel Stand can also be used for wireless charging with other smartphones.

In particular, for the “old” Pixels such as the 3/3 XL, 4/4 XL and the 5 it is possible to take advantage of a 10 W recharge. For all other smartphones compatible with the Qi standard, however, wireless charging will reach up to 15 W. This is a step forward compared to the first generation which guaranteed a 10W charge for all compatible Pixels and just 5W for devices compatible with Qi technology. The second-generation Pixel Stand also supports wired charging with a 30W charger.

We remind you that, at least for the moment, the marketing of the second generation Pixel Stand is limited to some markets. Google has started sales only in a limited circle of markets (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States), postponing the possible extension of marketing to a later date. In the future, therefore, there may also be a debut in Italy. Currently, the list price for European markets where sales have already started is 79 euros.
