The rumor that Warcraft will launch a mobile game has been around for a long time, originally in 2017, and it seems that the rumor will finally come true in 2022. Blizzard just confirmed that a new Warcraft mobile game will be released this year.
In its quarterly earnings report, Blizzard said that they plan to launch substantial new content for the Warcraft series in 2022, including new experiences for World of Warcraft and Hearthstone, and for the first time, the new Warcraft mobile game content will be delivered into the player’s hands.
Previously, Blizzard announced that they were developing several “Warcraft” mobile games, and in August 2021, they have entered the “final development stage”. One of them could be a Pokémon Go-style AR game.
If the “Warcraft” mobile game is launched this year, then this is not the only mobile game Blizzard will launch this year. The other is “Diablo: Immortal”, which is planned to be released in the first half of 2022.
As for the remaining “substantial new content”, Blizzard has not disclosed what it will be. IGN speculates that it is likely to refer to just a new expansion piece or an important patch.
