Apple Music cuts free trial to one month as promotion fades

Since its launch in 2015, Apple Music offered first-time subscribers a three-month free trial period, but the trial period has now been shortened. Starting this week, Apple Music is offering a shorter one-month free trial to first-time subscribers in the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Japan and other countries.

But despite the waning promotion, Apple Music’s pricing remains the same, with an individual plan in the U.S. starting at $9.99 a month after a one-month trial. For comparison, rival Spotify’s streaming music service typically offers a one-month free trial of its premium version, but it’s currently offering a two-month trial as a limited-time promotion in the U.S. and select other countries.

Spotify is also offering a three-month free trial to first-time users who sign up through PayPal. Apple Music continues to offer a six-month free trial to customers who purchase eligible AirPods, Beats, or HomePod models, again for a limited time.
