Windows 11 will soon allow users to automatically hide the taskbar

Microsoft is working to improve the tablet experience in Windows 11, and a recent discovery revealed that the company plans to enhance how users interact with the taskbar when the mode is enabled.

@thebookisclosed revealed on Twitter that Microsoft wants to give users an option called Automatically hide the taskbar when using your device as a tablet as the company is apparently working to bring back some of the original tablet mode options.

At this point, however, no one knows exactly when the feature should be available to all users, but for now, development is considered to be in the early stages. Microsoft is gearing up to release the first major update to Windows 11, with the first users expected to receive it as soon as this month.

The update will include a public preview of Android apps on Windows 11, thus giving users the opportunity to run apps built for Google’s mobile operating system on their desktops.

Until now, the feature has been exclusive to Windows Insiders, and only in a limited number of apps. In addition, Microsoft will bring some feature updates including additional taskbar improvements.

“Next month, we’ll be bringing a new experience to Windows, including a public preview of how you can use Android apps on Windows 11 through the Microsoft Store and our partnerships with Amazon and Intel, improvements to the taskbar, including call mute and cancel muting, easier window sharing and bringing the weather to the taskbar, as well as the introduction of two new redesigned apps, Notepad and Media Player,” Microsoft said when it announced the new Windows 11 update last month.

At this point, there’s no concrete timeline to offer, and considering it’s already February, the launch shouldn’t be too far off.
