Google has published its monthly security bulletin for Android. It’s about which security gaps have been closed in the Android operating system. Google informed its partners weeks ago, which means, for example, that users of some Samsung smartphones have already received the February patch. As always, details of some gaps will only be published later. Google hopes that partners will quickly provide updates for their devices.
The most serious of these problems is a critical security vulnerability in the system component that could give a remote attacker elevated privileges. Particularly spicy: No user interaction is required to exploit it. The severity rating is based on the impact that exploiting the vulnerability could have on an affected device, assuming that the platform and service mitigations are turned off or successfully bypassed for development purposes.
Security patch levels of 2022-02-01 or higher resolve all issues associated with security patch level 2022-02-01. Security patch levels of 2022-02-05 or later resolve all issues associated with security patch level 2022-02-05 and all previous patch levels.
