Samsung “could” extend its policy of updating some of its high-end devices from the current three to four major updates of the Android operating system. Furthermore, as regards the security patches, where the Korean company excels in terms of timing and regularity, it would “pass” to five years instead of the current four (as is already the case for corporate devices).
The current update timings were announced last year, shortly after the launch of the Galaxy S21 range. The decision to extend another year, however, “should” come in a couple of days, on the occasion of the launch of the Galaxy S22 range and the Galaxy Tab 8.

We talked to the conditional as the information is not official but we have quoted it as the source of this news is the popular leaker Evan Blass (known as @evleaks) who has made public through a newsletter the alleged press release of the Galaxy Tab S8 in which these and other information are reported.
The smartphones affected by this new policy are the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S21 FE, the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 as well as the next Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 which, since they will be natively released with Android 12, they should be updated until 2025-2026, years in which we will arrive at version 16 of the Android operating system.
In addition, everyone will enjoy at least five years of security updates. Obviously, this move would only make the Korean company’s devices even more attractive knowing that they will have such a long life cycle, with constantly updated features and guaranteed security.
