Adobe Premiere Pro 22.2 released, Nvidia/Intel GPU encoding speed greatly improved

According to the latest report, the latest version 22.2 of Adobe’s video editing software Premiere Pro has been released, supporting HEVC 10 bit encoding with 4:2:0 chroma sampling. The Nvidia GPU (Quadro RTX 5000) video encodes at least four times faster than the previous 22.1.1 release.

In addition, the encoding speed of Intel’s Iris Xe GPU (GPU i7-1165G7) is significantly improved using the latest encoding format. As you can see in the graph below, the Intel Iris Xe GPU is at least 8x faster in 4K encoding and at least 13x faster in HD simple scenes.

According to Adobe, thanks to the new hardware encoding in Premiere Pro 22.2, the export speed of 10-bit 420 HDR footage is now 10 times faster on Windows systems with Intel or NVIDIA GPUs.

In addition, Premiere Pro 22.2 also fits the bangs of the new Apple MacBook Pro. In full-screen mode, Premiere Pro 22.2 automatically adjusts UI elements to fit the notch on the 2021 MacBook Pro models.
