Android 13 should not be installed as a normal user now. But you don’t have to wait long for the first beta for the Pixel series. Google caught us off guard and actually launched the first developer preview of Android 13 early in February.
At the same time, Google again gives the schedule for the coming months. Of course, this can still change, the progress of development will decide that. We tell you what Google already has to announce about Android 13.
Android 13 is probably planned for late summer
The schedule shows that the first beta version should be available as early as April. As is well known, there is the beta program from Google, which applies to all Pixel cell phones that are still within the period of their respective update guarantee. But by then it will be less than it is now. Unfortunately, the Pixel 3a models are no longer one of them.
So it only starts with the Pixel 4 devices, which were released at the end of 2019. The latest Pixel 6 phones so far are also part of the game. The new Pixel 6a could also be added in early summer.
Just in time for the Pixel 7 in the fall
Platform stability should be achieved in the summer. It is not clear whether this will be the case in July or only in August. From the current perspective, we can expect the final release of Android 13 in September. At least then, so that Android 13 for the Pixel 7 phones will be ready in the fall.
Last year, Android 12 first appeared as a pure AOSP version and a little later for the Pixel series. It cannot be ruled out that this will happen again with Android 12L and Android 13.
