The next older Pixel models are now officially phased out. There were updates even beyond the actual warranty. Surprisingly, Google released an update for the Pixel 3 devices in February.
And in the meantime, some magazines said that the devices could even get Android 12L. But a small statement now reveals exactly what the further plans for the two Android smartphones from 2018 actually look like. Unfortunately, there is no surprise.
Google is not rolling out another update for the Pixel 3
The update guarantee for Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL expired in October last year, but more updates followed. They wanted to fix bugs, some of which were really serious. But that’s it now, the February security update is the last official update for these devices. Google confirmed this to colleagues from 9to5Google when asked.
So Android 12L is not coming. Too bad. But as already mentioned, this is no real surprise. By the way, you shouldn’t mix up the other 3 devices at this point. Pixel 3a and 3a XL are slightly newer, so still in their update guarantee. But not for long either.
