Recently, a Play on Luna button appeared on the game live broadcast platform Twitch, allowing players to launch Amazon’s cloud gaming platform Luna while watching the live broadcast. In fact, Amazon teased the idea back in late 2020: “Within the Luna experience, players will see a Twitch stream on the service, and on Twitch they’ll be able to start playing Luna games right away”.
After waiting almost 2 years for the event, now the feature is finally live. Google is trying to do the same, and when Stadia was originally announced, Google teased that the service could use its click-to-play feature to start cloud gaming from a trailer on YouTube, and even allow players to stream YouTube via Channel’s waiting list to join multiplayer. The former is similar to what Amazon did with Luna, but it was never fully realized or actively integrated into the YouTube platform.
