Activision Blizzard sued by its own shareholders for withholding information in Microsoft acquisition

A shareholder of Activision Blizzard sued Activision Blizzard on the grounds that Activision Blizzard withheld some information in order to persuade shareholders to support Microsoft’s acquisition, and there was a conflict of interest in the acquisition, and the directors and executives signed a “material direct interest” protocol.

According to Polygon, the lawsuit was filed yesterday in California by Kyle Watson and describes the acquisition as “unfair for a variety of reasons.”

Watson claimed Activision Blizzard’s statements were “grossly inadequate” and deprived them of the information they needed to make an informed and rational decision, which he said was “in an attempt to get shareholders to vote for the deal.”

Of course, Activision Blizzard disagreed, with an Activision Blizzard spokesperson telling the outlet, “We disagree with the allegations in this complaint and look forward to presenting our arguments in court.”
