A Google spokesperson confirmed on Sunday that Google Maps has temporarily disabled some tools in Ukraine. Citing Reuters, Google disabled a tool that provided real-time details of traffic conditions and busy places like shops after consulting with local authorities to help keep Ukrainian communities safe.
A Google Maps spokesperson said traffic information will still be available to people using the app for navigation. The operation comes a day after Ukrainian government agencies said they were removing road signs across the country to confuse invading Russian forces.
