Battlefield 2042 already has fewer online players on Steam than Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5. According to SteamDB data, the peak number of online players in Battlefield 2042 within 24 hours was only 2,702, far lower than the 9,811 of Battlefield 1 and the 26,003 of Battlefield 5, only slightly higher than the 2,676 of Battlefield 4.
Battlefield 4 is a game released in 2013. It seems that Battlefield 2042 is really in big trouble and can only be compared with games from nearly a decade ago.
After Battlefield 2042 landed on the Steam platform in November last year, the number of players has been declining. Today, the number of online players is only 2.5% of the peak of 105,397. Even if the free weekend event is held in December, there is no improvement.
Recently, DICE announced that it has noticed some problems in the map design of this game, and understands why players call this game a walking simulator, and will gradually fix it, but at least it will not see results until summer.
