Google’s self-developed Fuchsia system is another step toward widespread deployment. While the project is still in a very early stage and lacks many core features, it is being refined with a strong push from Google. Citing technology media 9to5Google, Google has finally provided a full Chrome browser experience in Fuchsia.

As first spotted by Fuchsia’s Reddit community user old school-51, these efforts have paid off in recent days, with Simple Browser being replaced with “Chromium” in Fuchsia’s app list. As you’d expect, upon launching the Chromium app, you’re greeted with the familiar Chrome design on the desktop.

Not fully online due to some issues with 9to5Google editor Kyle Bradshaw’s personal laptop, but other than that, the browser looks and works almost exactly as it does on Windows, Mac or Linux. Bradshaw says “almost” because there are still issues to be resolved, such as the context menu opening completely off-screen, and some multi-window issues.

Going forward, Google’s Chrome team is already working on improving the Fuchsia experience. For example, work is underway to enable Fuchsia devices to open PDF files. Clearly, Google intends to make the Fuchsia version of the Chrome browser as good as the other platforms in the end.
