Google has just announced that there is a new and extensive feature drop for the Pixel smartphones. Today’s update marks the tenth Pixel Feature Drop. Some of the new features and updates are rolling out now for the Pixel 3a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, on the other hand, are expected to receive updates throughout the month – many of them exclusive.
But what’s new now? On the one hand, that would be the night vision in Snapchat. This will make the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro happy and should still allow good photos in Snapchat when there is little ambient light. With the recent feature drop, people who can’t or don’t want to speak during calls and video conferences now have the option to communicate with automatic closed captions during the call. Closed captioning lets you see what the other person is saying and type in an answer to be read aloud on the other end – Pixel 6 (Pro) only.
Plus, you can now host your own YouTube watch parties or share your favorite app on your Pixel via Google Duo Live Sharing. In addition, there are more languages and thus more translation options for the live translator of the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. With interpreter mode, you can now translate your conversations in Spanish, Italian, and French right on the Pixel phones, as all translations stay local on the device.
You can test this by e.g. B. says: “Hey Google, help me to speak Spanish”. In addition, the pixels now recognize Spanish in videos and other media and automatically translate it into one of the supported languages: English, French, Italian, German and Japanese (beta phase). Only works on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
You can now spice up the lock and start screens with new widgets. From now on, the live display can do a little more – including displaying the battery level of your Pixel Buds and other Bluetooth devices or e.g. B. A countdown for the security check in the “Emergency Information” app and reminders to turn off your alarm clock if the next day is a holiday.
Also included are three new wallpapers by Manjit Thapp to celebrate International Women’s Day. Last but not least: The recorder app can now transcribe both Italian and Spanish on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. Google Assistant shortcuts are now also available in Spanish, Italian and French on the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
