Stadia goes, Luna comes: Cloud platform available for more players

Even though Stadia probably doesn’t have a great future ahead of it, that doesn’t mean that the topic of cloud gaming is slowly being buried – quite the opposite. It also seems like the perfect solution given PC hardware prices that are almost impossible to buy or consoles that are practically unavailable.

Of course, Amazon doesn’t want to miss out on this cash cow, after all, the online retailer has recently been investing heavily in the video game industry (New World, Lost Ark).

Amazon Luna now available to everyone in the US

For some time now, Luna has even had its own cloud gaming service, which was previously only available to a select group of users. Now Luna is leaving the beta phase and is therefore available for all users – who live in the USA.

This means that additional content will be available to Prime subscribers in the future, because there is, among other things, the so-called “Prime Gaming Channel”, in which other games can always be played. Otherwise, the system works in a similar way to the channels at Prime Video, because the memberships in the channels have to be taken out on a monthly basis.

Channels are becoming significantly more expensive

Amazon has announced that it will raise prices considerably, and in some cases even double them. Amazon Luna+, for example, will then cost $9.99 instead of $5.99, and the Family Channel will cost $5.99 instead of $2.99. The Ubisoft+ Channel stays at a whopping $17.99.

The lower prices can even be secured permanently in an early bird phase until April 1st, as long as the subscription is not interrupted. In Germany, however, we will hardly be able to count on such perks when Luna finally starts here. There is no date for that yet, but I would guess it will happen sooner rather than later.
