Color OS winks at secret agents to detect spy cameras

OPPO is one of the brands in the current panorama that is registering the greatest growth, both in terms of sales, but above all, as regards the group of users who appreciate its devices; credit for all this also goes to its proprietary Color OS interface, which over time constantly improves and adds new features.

We are talking about new functions today because OPPO has introduced a feature that had never been seen before or the possibility of detecting the presence of spy cameras.

Color OS allows you to detect any hidden cameras in a room

The new feature is primarily aimed at those who travel a lot and may want to check for hidden cameras in the hotel rooms they are staying in; but it can also be useful in different contexts and places, for example changing rooms, spas, or any place where you want to be sure to protect your privacy.

For the moment the new function is exclusive to OPPO Find X5 and Find X5 Pro (with Color OS 12.1), but the company has already declared its intention to bring it to other devices in the future; to use it, you need to download an application from the OPPO store, Hidden Camera Detection: once installed it will ask the user to turn off the WiFi and the phone’s hotspot (probably to reduce interference) before starting the search. You will then be prompted to turn off the lights in the room, to make it easier to locate any infrared lights, usually used in wireless cameras with night vision.

If and when the application detects a hidden camera, it will guide the user in the search with a series of indications (do you remember the game we played as children? Water, water, fire, fire, here, something like that), warning him when is in the immediate vicinity of the hidden device. At the moment, the application seems to be available only for the Chinese versions of the aforementioned smartphones, but OPPO will certainly bring it in the near future also on global versions.
