How to get a Heart of the Dragon

There are numerous optional bosses around the Interregnum, and some of them are nothing more than huge dragons. Once these dangerous fire-breathing creatures are defeated, the Lightless can receive a Dragon Heart as a reward, which is, therefore, a kind of special currency and is not a one-off. The first of these items can be obtained near the starting area by defeating Agheel. In this regard, we suggest you take a look at the guide on how to defeat the Flying Dragon Agheel in Elden Ring.

How to use the Dragon Hearts

But what are the Dragon Hearts in Elden Ring for? It is an object of exchange to be used at one of the two altars that are hidden in the Interregnum and linked to a sort of sect: we are talking about the Church of the Draconic Communion and the Cathedral of the Draconic Communion. The first location is located on the southwestern island of Tombstone, which can be reached by completing the Coastal Cavern dungeon.

If you do not know how to get there or how to overcome the pitfalls within it (we remind you that you will need a torch, sold by the merchant at the Church of Elleh for a few Runes), we invite you to take a look at the guide on how to defeat the Semhuman Chief and change the appearance of the armor, since the way to the islet opens just by eliminating the simple boss of the dungeon.

In fact, it will be enough to continue in the basement to exit the other side of the cave and find yourself on the island. Here there is a Place of Grace and a sort of ruined temple with a huge petrified dragon, or the Church of the Draconic Communion: visit this place at night (you can speed up the time from the bonfire) to interact with the object from which flames come out red to activate the Draconic Communion Ritual.

Here are the spells that can be obtained in the first of these two places in exchange for Dragon Hearts:

  • Dragonfire: Draws on the power of dragons to expel a breath of flame (Requirements: 15 Faith, 12 Arcane)
  • Dragon’s Claw: Taps into the power of dragons to tear apart enemies with mighty claws (Requirements: 17 Faith, 13 Arcane)
  • Dragonmaw: Draws on the power of dragons to bite enemies in the presence of the perpetrator (Requirements: 24 Faith, 16 Arcane)

The Cathedral of the Draconic Communion offers more spells but will be more difficult to reach. The second temple dedicated to dragons is located in the southernmost part of Caelid, which corresponds to the red-colored area located east of Sepolcride.

Before leaving you at the map with the exact location of the two places where you can spend the accumulated Dragon Hearts and exchange them for powerful spells, we remind you that on our pages you can also find a guide with advice on how to defeat the Sentinel of the Tree in Elden Ring, which is the first optional boss that can be encountered in Sepulcride.
