For PS lovers, Sony’s decision to give up the handheld game console PSV is a sad decision. Imagine if Sony can also launch a new handheld to compete with the Nintendo Switch, then players will definitely be able to play games with more expressive graphics.
With the PSV out of production, it’s getting harder to miss the console’s exclusive games now. However, there is a game lover who is working hard to move PSV to Switch recently. Recently, a technology enthusiast with the ID of xerpi launched a brand new homebrew software for the Switch, the name of the software is vita2hos.
With this homebrew, PSV programs can be run natively on the Switch. Although the project is still in its infancy, and only a few PSV CPU rendering programs can be run natively on the PSV system on the Switch, it is foreseeable that with the continuous advancement of the project, PSV commercial games will be natively run on the Switch platform in the future. Nor is it delusional.
It should be noted that “vita2hos” is not a PSV emulator on Switch. Because the CPU used by PSV and Switch is the same ARM architecture, although Switch uses 64-bit ARM8, it can run in 32-bit mode. When the PSV program is loaded, “vita2hos” works by using the Switch’s native system services, rather than emulation, so if PSV games are supported and run this way in the future, those PSV games will run at perfect speed on the Switch.
At present, “vita2hos” is already available on the Switch real machine and the Switch simulator on the PC. If you can successfully run PSV games in the future, then PCs can even run PSV games natively by using the Switch emulator.
