Gigafactory in Berlin, Tesla confirms Delivery Day for 22 March

Tesla has confirmed that it will hold a delivery event for the first Model Ys built inside the new Gigafactory in Berlin on March 22. As we know, at the end of last week the American carmaker had obtained the long-awaited authorization for its factory. It was thought that it was the last step to be able to officially start the series production of its cars but, as we had seen, Tesla is called to demonstrate that it can meet certain conditions.

However, the authorities also said that the manufacturer was confident of being able to meet all further requests within two weeks. So, this meant that Model Y could officially start series production and start deliveries towards the end of March. On March 22, therefore, the Elon Musk carmaker will hold a sort of factory inauguration (Delivery Day) in which it will deliver its cars to some customers.

The American brand has already started sending out invitations for the event. In addition to Elon Musk, there should be several German authorities given the importance that the factory has for the country in terms of the economy given that it will employ thousands of people directly and through related industries.

FUNDAMENTAL FOR GROWTH IN EUROPE

The Berlin Gigafactory plays a fundamental role in Tesla’s growth plans and, in particular, in its expansion in Europe. Once production is up and running, the plant will reduce the need for Tesla to have to import its cars from America and China to meet the demands of customers from the Old Continent. Furthermore, it is planned that within this site the cells for the batteries of its electric cars will also be built.

March 22 will therefore be a very important day for Tesla which will finally be able to start deliveries of its cars produced within the new Gigafactory dedicated to the European market. Recall that in this period in which the authorizations were awaiting, Tesla started a pre-series production that allowed to optimize the production processes of its electric cars. This means that it should be easier and faster to get the new factory up and running.
