What’s New in Windows 11 Preview: File Manager Supports Tabs

The latest Build 22572 preview released today does not introduce major upgrades and adjustments, but mainly optimizes the details. The change was not mentioned in the changelog released by Microsoft today, but users have found that the feature is already available in the new preview. Windows users have been asking Microsoft to add tabs to the file manager for years, with little success.

In 2017, Microsoft finally gave in and added a tabbed interface (Windows Sets) to the preview version of Windows 10. But then the feature was dropped by Microsoft, and the operating system had no tabs in File Explorer for the next five years.
