Windows 11 will upgrade many legacy pages, new printing interface has been tested

Although the Windows 11 system has undergone significant adjustments in the user interface, there are still many old pages left, some even dating back to the Windows 98 era. In the upcoming feature update of Windows 11, codenamed Sun Valley 2, Microsoft will upgrade these old pages to provide users with a more unified experience.

In the latest preview of Windows 11 Build 22572, Microsoft is testing an upgraded modern printing feature that can be launched from native apps such as Notepad. When you print a document via NotePad or WordPad, you’ll see a modern interface based on WinUI and Fluent design principles, in keeping with the rest of Windows 11’s UI.

Unlike Word, applications like Notepad rely on Windows’ built-in Print dialog, allowing users to create PDFs or print text using connected hardware. As you can see in the modern Print dialog screenshot above, Microsoft has updated buttons like Printers to work with WinUI 2.6. However, this design update removes features like Printer Preferences, Location and other advanced options that were available in the legacy version.
