PS5 DualSense: Subtle improvements to the inner workings

The PlayStation 5’s DualSense is also affected by a drift issue. Two gamers from my circle of friends were therefore not spared from exchanging their controllers. Essentially, the controller itself is doing input that it doesn’t want due to wear and tear/contamination. The drift problem also affects the Joy-Con off the Nintendo Switch. Now there are subtle improvements in the newer editions of the DualSense.

But they don’t just affect the sticks. There are new plastic elements that should perhaps prevent premature wear. But Sony has also replaced the springs of the adaptive triggers. The new springs are thicker and could therefore be more stable. So it happened to some users that the springs broke while playing eagerly. They provide more resistance in compatible games, e.g. B. a bow is stretched.

Sony hasn’t announced any of the adjustments in any big way. However, this is not usual for such minor revisions. The optimizations were discovered in the newer DualSense variants in different colors. So it’s specifically the DualSense in Starlight Blue, Nova Pink and Galactic Purple that are already showing the changes. The variants in Cosmic Red, Midnight Black and the original color have probably not yet been optimized.
