Elon Musk announces Master Plan 3 for Tesla

Elon Musk has announced via Twitter that he is now working on “Master Plan 3” for Tesla. The master plan may sound a bit exaggerated, it’s just a plan that Tesla draws up and then follows for a few years – others do it too.

Tesla: The first and second master plan

The first master plan at the time was: to develop an expensive electric car (Roadster) that brings in money to develop another electric car (Model S), which is already more intended for the mass market, which in turn brings in enough money for Tesla to then build a To develop an electric car for the masses (Model 3).

There was also the business with solar roofs and of course, the focus was primarily on volume production. Then, in 2016, the new Master Plan 2 was posted on Tesla’s website, which, according to Elon Musk, contains four key points:

  • Create stunning solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage
  • Expand the electric vehicle product line to address all major segments
  • Develop a self-driving capability that is 10X safer than manual via massive fleet learning
  • Enable your car to make money for you when you aren’t using it

The solar roof has been updated, the portfolio has also theoretically been expanded, although not in all areas (the cheap entry-level model is currently on hold), autonomous driving has been expanded, but you can’t make money with the car yet. And the autonomous fleet that Elon dreams of isn’t there either.

However, the head of Tesla is convinced that the goals have been achieved and therefore we will soon learn what Tesla has planned for the coming years.

Tesla: The third master plan is pending

I assume that autonomous driving will be the most important point by 2030, then it would be important that the announced cars like Roadster, Semi or Cybertruck finally come and the cheap electric car could also be a project. In addition, there is the massive expansion of new gigafactories.

In 2006, Elon Musk’s master plan was smiled at, just like Nokia’s managers did when the iPhone was announced, but in 2016 it was different, some car manufacturers took a look and reacted. Volkswagen, for example, showed the first ID study and was planning the MEB platform straight away.

Tesla is now one of the most successful companies on the stock exchange and is no longer in the red, so the competition will certainly analyze Master Plan 3 closely. In any case, I’m curious to see what Elon Musk and the team have in mind, you’re always good for a little surprise.
