Nintendo is definitely one of the more secretive companies in the gaming industry, so even a small discovery can spark discussion among many fans. A Twitter user spotted a controller patent Nintendo acquired last July, which was published in early January.
The patent can be viewed on the Espacenet patent search site, but other than the handle’s exterior and internal design drawings, the page doesn’t have any other information. It currently looks a bit like the layout of half an N64 controller.
Although the Twitter user still hasn’t given up hope that Nintendo may launch a Switch Pro version, Nintendo has previously made it clear that it has no plans to launch an enhanced Switch for the time being. Previously, in order to match the Switch Online membership game collection, Nintendo has launched the Switch version of the N64 and Sega MD handles. This handle patent may be a similar product.
