Microsoft recently released a new preview version of Windows 11 Build 22579, and one of the most important fixes is now available for the development channel, involving the Task Manager. Task Manager is very important to a user’s day-to-day Windows experience. However, in the latest preview build, users have encountered various issues with the Task Manager, including random crashes.
Some users reported that the Task Manager crashed nearly half the time on startup, and also crashed when switching from one tab to another. Windows 11 build 22579, released by Microsoft on the Dev Channel, addresses all of these crashes, while also introducing additional fixes for the Task Manager.
Fixed some high-hit Task Manager crashes, Microsoft said in the changelog. Fixed an issue where if the focus was inside the details page and you started typing, the focus would stop moving in the process list after the first letter. The title bar of the task manager will now be hidden if you are using the performance page in the summary view.
Microsoft also added a new Run New Task icon to the Task Manager, which also appears on all pages of the app. Windows 11 has a new task manager with an updated design that is consistent with the rest of the operating system.
Microsoft announced a while ago: “We’ve updated the design of the Task Manager to match the new Windows 11 design principles. This includes a new hamburger navigation bar and a new settings page. On each page, there is a new Command bar with access to frequently used actions. We are also excited to bring a dark theme to the Task Manager and will automatically match the system-wide theme configured in the Settings app.”
