You certainly don’t have to explain the VLC Media Player to any use anymore. The open-source software is set on numerous computers. The VLC Media Player is available for the common platforms, of course also for iOS and iPadOS.
And there’s an update after a long time. A very big one. There’s a visually customized video playback interface, support for NFS and SFTP network shares, and integration of UPnP through VLC’s own libupnp-based solution.
There are also download options from SMB servers and the almost usual performance improvements. The changelog lists numerous other improvements, so users can only be advised to take a look at it. Maybe even those who have already lost sight of VLC again.
