Last week, Samsung presented new (upper) mid-range smartphones with the Galaxy A33 5G and the A53 5G. Without much fanfare, further growth for the A and M series is now being pushed behind. The portfolio is now being strengthened by the Galaxy A13, the Galaxy M23 5G and the Galaxy M33 5G in the area of entry-level devices and the lower mid-range. As the name already suggests, the new Galaxy M smartphones also rely on the 5G standard in terms of connectivity, while 4G is the highest of emotions with the A13.
Unspecified octa-core SoCs are inside the devices. The A13 relies on the combination of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage space. The M23 has 128 GB of storage space and the M33 has 6 GB of RAM. There aren’t any different memory configurations, but there is a possibility to expand the memory using a microSD card. The devices run Android 12 with Samsung’s OneUI 4.1 overlay.
The devices, which are not exactly small, all rely on a 6.6-inch display on the front. A TFT panel with Full HD+ resolution. While the M devices rely on a refresh rate of 120 Hz, the A13 only has 60 Hz. The front camera with 8 megapixels is in an Infinity V recess.
With the Galaxy M23, Samsung relies on a triple camera setup consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera with f/1.8, an ultra-wide-angle lens with 8 megapixels (f/2.2) and a 2-megapixel depth sensor (f/2.4). The main camera also fails with the M33 5G and the A13 with 50 megapixels, with the ultra-wide-angle lens it is 5 megapixels (f/2.2). At the side, more or less useful, are two 2-megapixel sensors (each f/2.4) for macro photography and depth information. Samsung does not name the sensors at this point.
In addition? All smartphones come with a battery capacity of 5,000 mAh. While the Galaxy A13 is charged with 15 watts, the two M models have 25 watts of charging power. The new smartphones are each available in three colors. While the Galaxy A13 is already available from March 25th, you have to wait until April 8th for the M23 5G and the M33 5G. The Galaxy A13 is priced at 189 euros, while the M23 and M33 are priced at 289 euros and 349 euros, respectively.
