According to MacRumors, after the official version of Apple’s macOS 12.3 update was released on March 14, some Mac users encountered problems with game controllers after installing the new software.
Complaints on Apple’s developer forums and on Reddit suggest that some Xbox, PlayStation, and other third-party controllers don’t work over Bluetooth. It doesn’t appear that all users are affected, as some say their controllers are operating as expected, so it’s not quite clear what’s going on.
Those who have had problems connecting a game controller to their Mac using Bluetooth and then are unable to use the controller in Mac games. Some users with controller issues are able to use the controller on the web page, but for some users, the controller doesn’t work at all. Here’s what to say from the Apple Developer Forums:
“I had the same problem. My Nimbus+ controller didn’t work with Apple Arcade after updating to Monterey 12.3. I was able to connect via bluetooth, but none of the buttons worked. I’m sure many Mac gamers have The same problem, I hope Apple can solve this problem as soon as possible.”
Other users have been able to get their controllers to work in some games but not others.
Have the same problem here. My controller works in some games, but not everywhere.
