Chrome will get a new feature that allows users to add comments and annotations on web pages

According to the latest information shared by whistleblower Leopeva62-2, based on a post on Chromium Gerrit, Google plans to introduce a new feature that will allow users to add comments and annotations on web pages. The idea is nothing new, there are many extensions in the Chrome Web Store that serve the same purpose.

Alternatively, Microsoft has implemented this idea, although currently only for PDF files. It appears that Google wants to implement web page annotations in the Chrome browser.

However, there is not a lot of information about this feature at this stage. Chromium Gerrit doesn’t have a detailed description or screenshots of how web notes work in Chrome. Also, it’s not yet available for early adopter testing in Chrome Canary. There’s no guarantee the feature will enter public beta (let alone a stable release).

Given that the feature appears to be in early development, it may take a while for Google to develop, test, and ship it to the public. If the idea sounds exciting, you might want to use a third-party extension like Benote or Note Anywhere, and Google is busy coding that functionality on a native level.
