GTA 5 on Xbox Series S doesn’t excite Digital Foundry: technical analysis

GTA 5 on Xbox Series S did not thrill Digital Foundry, which updated its technical analysis of the Rockstar Games title by observing its behavior on the next-gen inexpensive Microsoft console.

In our analysis of GTA for PS5 and Xbox Series X, we talked about the different graphics modes available, a ray-tracing applied only to the shadows and the important novelty of 60 fps.

On the Xbox Series S, the developers have eliminated a few things, first of all, ray tracing, while on the resolution front it is possible to opt for 1440p at 30 fps or 1080p at 60 fps.

The problem is that the performance turns out to be inconsistent, with some drop too much in correspondence with the uncertainties expressed by the older sister, Xbox Series X. In short, we are faced with a decent upgrade but nothing more.
