With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft gave the taskbar a major makeover. Inspired by earlier Windows 10X operating system development projects, Windows 11 defaults to a centered arrangement of taskbar icons, while keeping the Start button first from the left. For users accustomed to older versions of the Windows operating system, these changes are still somewhat confusing and take a while to get used to.

The good news is that since the release of Windows 11, Microsoft has continued to further improve the taskbar experience. One of the biggest changes is the reintroduction of drag and drop support.

A missing feature that should have been there at launch, Insider testers in the Dev and Beta channels finally saw it in the Windows 11 Build 22581 preview earlier this week.

It should be pointed out that the above improvements are currently limited to the Windows Insider test environment. However, some of them may be added to the official version with the release of Windows quality updates.
