Galaxy Watch 5 focuses on autonomy: new confirmations on increased batteries

Summer is approaching and with it also the presentation of the next Galaxy Watch 5, the second generation of Samsung smartwatch based on Wear OS. In fact, we recall that the current Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic are the first based on Wear OS 3 and have therefore introduced a clear detachment in terms of interface and functionality compared to the predecessors with the Tizen operating system.

This leap should not be repeated with the Watch 5, which should simply refine the current experience and improve some key aspects such as the provision of sensors and autonomy. On the battery theme, promising rumors have already emerged in recent days and even those that we report today seem to go in the same direction: the much-criticized lack of autonomy of the Watch4 seems to become just a memory.

BATTERY: STEP FORWARD ALSO FOR THE 44MM

The latest information comes again from the Safety Korea database, where it was spotted what should be the battery equipped in the 44mm Galaxy Watch 5, identified by the serial code EB-BR910ABY. According to the database, the reported capacity is 397 mAh, therefore 36 mAh is more than the 361 mAh of that is present on the Watch4 of the same size.

The new battery, therefore, has a 10% higher capacity than the previous model and this could mean that the Watch5 will actually be able to guarantee two days of use even with more intense use. Of course, being a Wear OS smartwatch, you can’t expect Watch5 to go beyond two days, but it’s still an important improvement.

In short, Galaxy Watch5 could be the right device for all those who have not been convinced by the Watch4; compared to this it should feature the same health monitoring capabilities and may also offer body temperature measurement as an extra addition.
