Part of Apple’s health system code may have been stolen by hacker group

The Apple Health code used to develop Globant’s “Earn Your Apple Watch” project may have been stolen in the latest Lapsus$ hack. Lapsus$ announced the event on Wednesday through its Telegram channel, along with a torrent link for the data. Screenshots of these files show that the folders are named “Facebook” and “apple-health-app”.

The Verge was unable to verify whether these folders contained source code belonging to these companies. Neither Facebook nor Apple responded to requests for comment. Apple previously worked with Globant on a white-label tool — used to create rewards programs around the Apple Watch.

Employees will be able to get an Apple Watch by tracking their fitness and exercise data and using that data, or get other discounts and rewards when they get an Apple Watch. It is not known what data is contained in the folder labeled “apple-health-app,” and Globant did not respond to a request for comment.

Lapsus$ has been stealing data from various companies in recent weeks, from 37GB of Microsoft source code to 190GB of data in a Samsung exploit. The hacker group also allegedly breached the Okta authentication tool to gain access to more accounts and data.
