E3 2022 game exhibition officially canceled, please look forward to next year’s event

After previously announcing the cancellation of E3 2022’s live event, ESA today informed its partners that this year’s online live event has also been canceled. In other words, this year’s E3 game show has been completely canceled.

The news came via a tweet from RAZER PR head Will Powers, who said an email had been sent out announcing the cancellation of the digital E3 event. IGN has also independently verified the contents of the email.

After the cancellation of offline exhibitions due to the outbreak of the new crown epidemic in 2020, ESA originally planned to hold offline events this year as the epidemic was basically controlled. However, this was cancelled in January and ESA was unable to make a public statement at the time on whether there would be a digital version of the event.

According to what was revealed to IGN at the time, discussions around E3 have been intense throughout the year, with typically involved third parties finding it frustrating that the ESA has remained silent on their plans.

ESA shared an official note with IGN confirming the cancellation of E3 2022 and announcing that E3 will return in 2023 with a “reinvigorated showcase”. In the statement read:

We’ll be putting all our energy and resources into delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or from your favorite device, the 2023 Showcase will bring the community, media and industry back together in a new format and interactive experience.
