Firefox welcome to version 100, but for now only in Beta

Firefox reaches version 100, at least in Beta, and “reaches” Chrome which had anticipated the Mozilla browser at the end of March. To be honest, Google still has an advantage, as the Chrome 101 Beta was released just a few days ago. The new version of Mozilla has started to appear on the Play Store, although at the time of writing on the platform it is still the 99 beta 5 to be the last available. It will be a matter of hours, we suppose, for the beta to be downloaded by everyone.

For the moment, despite the (official) advances of the past days, the only tangible novelty seems to be that of the possibility of activating the HTTPS-only mode in the Settings menu, a function inherited from the desktop version of the browser. Not that Firefox does not already force communication via secure protocol even on mobile: were not available, however, it is satisfied with HTTP.

With beta 1 of Firefox 100, things change: once the option is activated, for sites with only HTTP support, the browser will open a warning window that warns the user of the potential risks that may be encountered by accessing the page. Just to get an idea, Chrome already has the HTTPS-only option by default.

The stable version of Firefox 100 is expected to be released on the Google Play Store on May 3rd.
