Nintendo Switch gets firmware update

Last month, Nintendo rolled out a major update for the Switch that raised the firmware to version 14. Version 14.1 is now being distributed and of course, there are the usual optimizations that follow after a major update.

However, Nintendo also added a new feature for platinum points, so it’s probably version 14.1 and not version 14.0.1. Just have a look at your Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, or Switch OLED, the update is now online. I have included the official changelog from Nintendo for you here:

Nintendo Switch version 14.1 changelog

Platinum Point Notification Settings have been added under Notifications in System Settings.

  • Unclaimed Platinum Points earned from completing Nintendo Switch Online missions on your Nintendo Switch system will generate notifications.
  • Nintendo Switch Online missions and rewards are not available in some countries and regions. For more information, see How to Complete a My Nintendo Mission.
  • Setting these notifications to OFF will hide the notification sent when there are unclaimed Platinum Points.
