On Pixels, the At a Glance widget is increasingly complete: here is the earthquake alert

There is news coming on the Pixels regarding the features of At a Glance, the launcher widget that allows us to quickly view the most important information directly on the home and lock screen and on which Google has been working for some time to make it more effective.

It is complete. In distribution in these hours there is the update that introduces the alert for earthquakes, a function actually already foreseen by the Feature Drop of March but made actually available only now. With this also comes a Safety check, or a Safety check.

EARTHQUAKE ALERT

To get to know Earthquake Alert more closely, just take a look at the At a Glance screen on the Pixel: once activated, the alarm will sound whenever an earthquake with a magnitude greater than 4.5 occurs nearby.

Warning: this is not the same service introduced by Google on Android a couple of years ago that can be activated from Settings> Security and emergency and which makes use of the smartphone’s internal sensors.

9to5Google says it has received the update on the Pixel 6 Pro, while there is no news on other smartphone models. We must also keep in mind that the function is not active everywhere: you have to wait for the rollout to be completed. Hoping that the widget doesn’t release random alert notifications as it has in the past.

OTHER NEWS

And in the meantime, as we said, other functions are being distributed on At a Glance: see for example Safety check, with which you are asked to confirm that everything is ok once the Personal Safety timer has ended. The widget is destined to change again: in particular, with Android 13 Google intends to make the transition from the Lock screen to the Home even more fluid (a taste is provided by Developer Preview 2).
