LineageOS brings Android 12L to the venerable Samsung Galaxy S5

Google released the stable version of Android 12L last month and with it also came the official version of the source code in AOSP which allowed aftermarket developers to start indulging in creating unofficial builds.

The first build of Android 12L can now be tested on the evergreen Samsung Galaxy S5, the quintessential modding smartphone that ran none other than Android 12 in February.

Unofficial LineageOS 19.1 brings Android 12L to Samsung Galaxy S5

After 8 years of release, the Samsung Galaxy S5 got a taste of Android 12L through an unofficial build of LinegesOS 19.1, thanks to the work of XDA senior member khalvat and the entire LineageOS team who are busy shaping the next major release.

The ROM gives users of the venerable Samsung smartphone a chance to experience the latest version of Android available right now.

As there are a couple of versions of the Samsung Galaxy S5 it’s good to make sure you actually own the LTE variant powered by the Snapdragon 801 SoC. The developer offers separate builds for the “klte” variants (SM-G900F / M / R4 / R7 / T / V / W8), “kltechn” (SM-G9006V / 8V) and “klteduos” (SM-G900FD / MD).

Despite being an initial build, the ROM seems quite stable, but currently, it is not recommended to use it as default on Samsung Galaxy S5, however, it is definitely worth seeing Android 12L running on a 2014 smartphone. Follow the link to download the build.
